His name isn’t Rory McIlroy or Bryson DeChambeau; it is Brandon Matthews.

The long bombing Matthews reportedly can swing the big dog (driver) 135mph when he gets after one, according to his long time golf coach, Dale Gray. To put things in perspective, the fastest swinger on the PGA Tour (2021 full statistics for a season) is Bryson Dechambeau, as he averaged 133.5mph, with the fastest being 139mph!

When you couple something like that together, you get a mind boggling outcome of 340 to 350 yards of carry distance, not even mentioning the firm and fast fairways on tour that can bring that tee shot over 400 yards!

Just look at the sheer power that the six-foot-four Matthews packs behind his driver swing for yourself, no surprise here!

The young 27-year-old is no stranger to success, especially coming here in 2022, with a win and a runner-up finish on the Korn Ferry Tour (KFT) this season. With the great finishes this season, it brings Matthews to 4th in the points list, which puts him safely inside the important Top 25 that will allow him to receive his PGA Tour card as long as he stays within that magical number 25, exciting stuff!

Keep an eye out for the young man at the Wells Fargo this week! Although Matthews is coming off of three missed cuts on the Korn Ferry Tour, the sponsor exemption could be a strong inspiration to get things back on track. His only start on the PGA tour came in 2019 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational; however, with all things considered; it could be a recipe for success.

Fellow long-hitting golfer and 4-time major champion, Rory-McIlroy will be defending his title at the Wells Fargo Championship. There will be plenty of bombs to be had starting in Round 1!
