Korn Ferry Tour Sees Huge Boost After Monahan’s Conference
The Korn Ferry Tour is now in a great spot.
The best stories come from this feeder Tour, players who fly around the country on crazy schedules to try and achieve their dreams of making it to the PGA TOUR. Players who have gone back to qualifying school three times, quit jobs to re-live their ambitions, and worked second or third jobs to fund their career to date.
Today’s announcement from PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan stated that Korn Ferry Tour players who qualify for their PGA TOUR cards will receive a $500,000 guaranteed league minimum up front.
Even more motivation to get to the top 😤

Not $10 million for shooting +8, but enough to make college debts and travel expenses places less of a weight on a young golfer’s shoulders.
Monahan stated that the Korn Ferry Tour is ‘the ultimate proving ground’.
Released by PGA TOUR Communications on Twitter, fully exempt members of the Tour (in the top 125) are eligible for the Earnings Assurance Program, which guarantees the league minimum, which players will receive upfront.
Players that are fully exempt on the PGA TOUR (Korn Ferry Tour graduates category and above on the priority ranking) will be eligible for the Earnings Assurance Program, while non-exempt members will receive a travel stipend. Details: pic.twitter.com/NhHBsSff2S

The Travel Stipend program is more interesting. For the players ranked 126-150 and below, they receive $5,000 for every missed cut, and travel and tournament-related expenses are subsidized by the Tour.
As the Tour continues to evolve and keep up with the modern game, there are plenty more updates to discuss and delve into, but for now it is good news that the Korn Ferry Tour is becoming more attractive. Players have even more incentive to graduate and make it through to the PGA TOUR.
I am sure LIV Golf will be taking credit for the shake-up; and it may be fitting to assign it! The players who stayed are being rewarded, and next season promises to be exciting!
