LIV Golf Gets Special Invite to The Masters
LIV Golf got its “Special Invitation” to The Masters tournament in April, as Augusta National Golf Club extended an invitation to one of the tour’s golfers as they did not qualify through any of the other routes.
Joaquin Niemann will be in Augusta this year thanks to a Special Invitation on behalf of Augusta National. Niemann moved to LIV Golf two seasons ago, and has slowly worked his way out of automatic qualifying as he has moved down the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) due to LIV not qualifying for points.
Augusta National and Masters chairman Fred Ridley said in a statement:
“In support of Augusta National’s efforts to develop interest in golf globally, deserving international players not otherwise qualified have been invited throughout the tournament’s history. The tradition continues as we welcome Nicolai and Joaquin back to the Masters, as both players have showcased their talent while competing around the world. We look forward to their arrival this April.”
Nicolai is Nicolai Højgaard, who also received the invitation.

There will be plenty of other LIV Golfers in the field, including Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka, who both qualified through recent Major Championship victories. Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, and Bubba Watson will all be in the field as past champions of The Masters.
