LIV Golf Has Sights Set on Two PGA TOUR Stars
Despite talks of a merger between the PGA TOUR and LIV Golf’s financier, the Saudi PIF, which is still ongoing, it does not mean that players will not consider jumping ship.
A new report from The Mirror indicates LIV Golf has its sights set on two players from the PGA TOUR, although a merger could come in the near future.
The report speculates that both Hideki Matsuyama and Viktor Hovland are on LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman’s radar, especially as the pair of players struggled on the PGA TOUR this year and could be looking to make a change.
Although Matsuyama won the FedEx St. Jude just a few weeks ago, it was somewhat of an off-year for him. He won twice on TOUR this year, but in 19 events, he only accumulated 7 Top 10 finishes, somewhat of a disappointment for the 2021 Masters Champion.

Meanwhile, the report also speculates that Viktor Hovland could be mulling a move. It states that Hovland gave his agent permission to start negotiations with LIV Golf.
Hovland has said on several occasions that the format of LIV is not for him, but we have heard the same from a lot of players that are now on LIV’s roster.
It is important to note that the report seems more speculative than anything, but we have seen rumblings turn into action. Jon Rahm’s $600 million move was also heavily speculated early, and turned out to be true.
