LIV Golf Winners Among Those in Danger of Being Relegated
With four events left in the LIV Golf season – not counting the season-ending Team Championship – LIV’s relegation system is looming large for several name golfers on the circuit.
The system from last year was tweaked due to the addition of Jon Rahm and a 13th team last offseason. The tour announced in the offseason that those finishing 49th and lower in the season standings would be relegated from their team and be forced to play their way into the 2025 season through the LIV Golf Promotions event in December.
The LIV Golf “Drop Zone” is getting very interesting heading into the final few events of the season. As it stands, both Vincent brothers, Kalle Samooja and Branden Grace are facing relegation, with Bubba Watson exempt as a captain. The only exceptions are for team captains and players with years remaining on their contracts with a given team.
Dustin Johnson’s 4 Aces, who won the inaugural team title in 2022, has two players in danger of being relegated. Pat Perez is No. 47 in the standings, and Harold Varner III, who won an event in 2023, is in the final safe spot at No. 48.

Laurie Canter is 49, but he returned to the DP World Tour after playing in the first two LIV tournaments this season. South African Branden Grace, who won the series’ second-ever event in 2022, is also in danger of being dropped.
Among those exempt is Bubba Watson, who is a team captain but sits at No. 50. Anthony Kim, who is 55th in the standings, was added as a wild card and is not a team member, so he will also not be relegated if he doesn’t rise above No. 49 in the standings.
