LIV Golfers Send Joint Letter to OWGR Chairman Pleading For Ranking Points
More signatures have been collected in the ongoing battle between LIV Golf and the golfing world.
Official World Golf Ranking Chairman Peter Dawson was addressed by all 48 LIV Chicago Golfers in a letter released today. Within the letter, LIV players used other sports to explain the effects of that excluding them from the OWGR.

“An OWGR without LIV would be incomplete and inaccurate, the equivalent of leaving the Big 10 or the SEC out of the U.S. college football rankings, or leaving Belgium, Argentina, and England out of the FIFA rankings…Every week that passes without the inclusion of LIV athletes undermines the historical value of OWGR.”
The OWGR is an important tool in the legitimacy of LIV Golf. No longer can one say that the golfers who participate are past their best due to new arrivals Joaquin Niemann and Cam Smith. The average age in the field is lower, and the average player is much better than in the first LIV event. For the LIV Tour to be recognized alongside the multitude of other Tours included in the OWGR, it must be accepted into the rankings.
Of course, if this were to happen, entry into majors is all but guaranteed, and there really is no stopping ore players from jumping ship. The downsides of joining LIV would be nullified.

The letter goes on to use Dustin Johnson as an example; a former World #1 who has dropped nine places in the official OWGR since joining LIV, all while playing some excellent golf, finishing in the Top 8 individually four times and playing a key role on the winning team four times.
The letter concludes with an appeal to the fan base, as well as upholding the integrity of the game:
“We call on you to render a positive decision quickly – for the benefit of the integrity of the rankings, the game, and all of us who love the sport.
After all, the fans deserve rankings that are inclusive and accurate. Failure to include 48 of the world’s best golfers would mean the fans are being denied what they deserve”.

48 well-established names have signed the letter, piling more pressure onto the OWGR committee as to whether they will surrender to the growing force that is LIV Golf.
