LIV Golf’s Smash GC Has Evidently Welcomed Back Matthew Wolff

Earlier this month, it appeared that Matthew Wolff had been removed from LIV’s Smash GC, which features both Brooks and Chase Koepka, as well as Jason Kokrak.

The reason for the drop was unknown, although sources said the “vibes were off and they didn’t mesh.” Wolff was also reportedly battling injuries, but he had been removed from all Smash GC social media bios and Wolff had stripped references of the team from his personal pages.

But it appears a reunion is in the works.

Earlier today, Smash GC released its promotional posted for the upcoming Valderrama, Spain event from June 30 to July 2, featuring the full four-man team, including Wolff.

Wolff initially was playing with Phil Mickelson’s Hy Fliers GC, but he was dropped from the squad in February 2023 and made his way to Koepka’s Smash GC after the club dropped Peter Uihlein.

Wolff’s addition back to Smash GC, which has been rumored to be on its way to being purchased by Nike, is interesting to say the least. LIV’s model for golf opens the doors for team-less golfers to compete individually, but there is more financial opportunity in being linked to a squad, as the team with the lowest cumulative score after a 54-hole tournament makes a considerable amount of money.

Earlier this week, Flushing It reported that Wolff will remain on Smash GC for the rest of the season after the trade he was looking for never happened.
