LIV Joins Forces with MENA Tour In Attempt to Bag Ranking Points

LIV Golf has all but confirmed their successful quest to qualify for world ranking points, according to sources at The Telegraph and beyond.

We’ve heard of strategic alliances in the past, specifically between the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour, in their attempts to obstruct the obliterating force that is LIV Golf. Now, LIV has partnered up with the Middle East and North African Tour (MENA) to find a loophole in qualifying for ranking points, perhaps as soon as this week’s event in Bangkok. At the minute, the OWGR has not granted ranking points.

The MENA Tour was dormant until today. Originally a feeder tour for those looking to break out in the Asian Tour or Asian Development Tour. Their website now has LIV Bangkok listed among ‘upcoming events.’

The MENA Tour website also states that as a result of the alliance, “all LIV Golf players have joined the MENA Tour.”

Initial problems come from the lack of 72-hole events and 36-hole cuts, and there may be caps on how many points LIV Golfers can earn as part of the MENA set-up.

Who’d have thought it? DJ, Phil, Brooks Koepka, Lee Westwood, and the whole lineup are formally part of the Middle Eastern and North African golf tour.

Welcome to another week in the tumultuous world of professional golf.
