A new image of Tiger Woods has revealed the horrific injury and scar to his leg, giving golf fans a good idea of what he has been dealing with over the past several years.

Woods’s leg was severely injured in a car accident that occurred in February 2021 while hosting the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles at Riviera Country Club. He was required to have surgery, which included the installation of metal rods in his leg.

Tiger would reveal in later interviews that he was at risk of losing his leg altogether, as doctors and surgeons heavily weighed the possibility of amputation:

The injury has been heavily guarded by Woods and his team as he has never been seen without a compression leg sleeve on his right leg — until today.

New images from the U.S. Junior Amateur, where Woods is alongside son Charlie as he competes in the tournament, show Tiger’s leg without the compression sleeve for the first time.

A massive scar that spans down the lateral part of the leg reveals how much damage was done to the limb during the accident and subsequent surgeries. It also reveals another thing — Woods has been dealing with this ailment during the preparation of all golf tournaments he’s played in.

It is no wonder he has dealt with severe pain and has a lengthy routine to get his body ready for walking.

Woods has revealed the leg for the first time just after he missed the cut at The Open Championship at Royal Troon in Scotland.

Since the injury, Tiger truly has not been the same, and has struggled to make cuts anywhere but Augusta National and The Masters.
