The opening tee shot at the Masters is less than 48 hours away. Picks are formulating, weekend plans are being hatched, the social channels are on fire.

Unfortunately, the weather forecast isn’t playing ball. After last year when a falling tree nearly caused a serious upset to proceedings, Thursday now looks very wet. 95% chance of precipitation, to be exact.

It’s expected that play will be delayed due to potential for lightning, an inch of rain between morning and noon, and significant wind in the forecast.

Bad weather could favour some players, but if there is electricity in the air then play will certainly be delayed. Although the Augusta National Golf Club is not the PGA Tour and won’t just blow the horn after the sight of a few clouds.

Friday doesn’t look much better, with serious wind in the forecast. This points to the grinders, Brian Harman, Matt Fitzpatrick, please step forth. Scrambling becomes paramount. Strategy and bogey avoidance are crucial stats to monitor this week.

The weekend promises a return to normal, albeit the course will be a bit softer. By Sunday, we’re anticipating a perfect finale for the first major of the year as the skies clear.

Who’s excited?
