Matt Wallace just equalled a record on the DP World Tour.

The Englishman carded a 27 on the back 9 at  – after delivering nine consecutive birdies. His proximity to the hole was the amazing part of the performance, after never being more than 6 feet away for birdie on the final six holes.

Wallace shot a bogey free 60, catapulting into a great position to win in Dubai. It turns out nine consecutive birdies has happened on four other occasions, all since 2009. Wallace joins a list of Mark Calcavecchia, Bernd Weisberger, James Nitties and Kevin Chappell.

Wallace came close to the record-breaking, magic number that is 59, coming very close to a hole out eagle on 18. Nevertheless, the twelve birdies Wallace carded has set a new record. He now sits one shot above Tommy Fleetwood and Viktor Hovland at the Jumeirah Estates – with a packed field including Jon Rahm, Bob MacIntyre and twins Nicolai and Rasmus Hojgaard.

Have a day!
