McIlroy, Thomas & DeChambeau Among Players to Miss The Cut At The Masters
As any Masters Tournament is challenging, it is even more so when you add inclement weather to the mix. Sometimes when you get a bad tee time draw, it can mean the cost of a few shots to secure your spot in the weekend. Rory needed to better his score by 2 shots to make the +3 cut, surprising as this is his second cut in 3 years at Augusta.
With Rory’s momentum coming in, it was possible he could complete the career grand slam after finishing 2nd place last year, in addition to being the FedEx Cup and Race to Dubai Champion. However, Rory wasn’t the only one who didn’t get the weekend invitation.

Justin Thomas and Bryson DeChambeau both came in one shot behind to make the cut. A frustrating one for Thomas because since he participated in the Masters in 2016, he has finished no worse than 39th.
DeChambeau’s theory of a par 67 Augusta is yet to hold water as he comes up short back without a round sub-74 the last two years.

The par-3 contest winner, Tom Hoge, finished +4, leaving the 63-year drought intact of no player winning both the par 3 contest and the green jacket. Last week’s winner of the Valero Texas Open, Corey Conners, also will not have a shot at a green jacket. He has finished in the top 10 the last 3 consecutive years and has not missed a cut since his amateur debut in 2015.
One can imagine this will leave Rory, JT, and other players hungry for the remaining three majors of the year.
