NEW EQUIPMENT: 2024 Releases from Callaway, PING and Wilson Golf

It’s crazy to think that we’re just days from Labor Day weekend, and the PGA TOUR is already starting the new season (albeit, under a newly-revised “FedEx Cup Fall” scheduling). Indeed, the Fortinet Championship is currently underway, marking the start of the race for the top spots and, with it, a litany of benefits, including invitations to select, elevated events, 2-year Tour exemption, and FedEx and OWGR points.

But while many of these fall events, excluding the Ryder Cup, will get overlooked, they often provide an early look at the upcoming year’s product lineup. And this year is no exception.

When Callaway released the new 2024 Apex irons, the lineup included the MB, CB, Pro and UT. What was, noticeably, missing was the TCB (Tour Cavity Back), which became a Tour and amateur favorite.

Fortunately, it appears that the TCB will be coming to market in the near future, and likely put into play by the likes of Jon Rahm and Xander Schauffele who used them to win Major and Olympic wins, respectively. Both Rahm and Xander will be competing at the Ryder Cup, so this could be accelerating the Tour-release.

Like the prior generation, we can anticipate the 2024 Apex TCB will feature a 1025 carbon steel forged, cavity-back construction and more compact, Tour-inspired profile. Additionally, it appears that the TCB will retain the weight bar to help dial in head/swing weight to player preference.

PING also appears to be gearing up for a release of an all-new Blueprint model. Currently, the Blueprint is a blade-style iron featuring a fully-forged 8620 carbon steel construction. The new Blueprint S, however, appears to be designed as a slightly-more forgiving cavity back option, that will still incorporate the same forging techniques and Tour-inspired design (reduced offset, traditional lofts, narrow soles, etc.).

Supposedly, both Viktor Hovland and Tyrrell Hatton have been testing these Blueprint S irons, although Hovland stayed with his i210’s during this recent, blazing-hot stretch of golf he played, culminating with the 2023 FedEx Cup Championship win.

It is worth noting that a Blueprint T has also been spotted, although that appears to be more of an upgraded version of the current Blueprint.

Wilson Golf, who is now backing fan-favorite Kevin Kisner and 2019 U.S. Open Champion Gary Woodland, is also preparing to release two new iron models—the Staff Model CB and Blades.

Wilson, truly, does not get the credit it deserves for designing some great looking and performing irons, especially its Staff lineup.

It’s safe to presume that both irons will be forged 8620 carbon steel and—like the other Tour-developed irons—feature little (if any) offset, a more compact profile, thinner soles, and more traditional lofts.

Worth noting is that the new Staff Model CB appears to have a more traditional design, whereas the current generation may have been a bit polarizing and drastic after the Staff FG Tour V6 model.

More 2024 equipment—specifically the new metal and carbonwood models—will be coming in fast and furious over the next few months before their January official release. So we’ll make sure to keep everyone apprised of everything that gets spotted!
