NEWS: Multiple Changes Are Being Made to Augusta for 2022 Masters
With the ongoing concerns over distance, as well as advances in golf ball technology, it seems that Augusta is looking to negate the extra distance by making some holes longer.
According to Twitter user Ken Brown, the tee on the Par 5 15th at Augusta will be moved back for the 2022 Masters.

For years, people in golf have speculated a change could be coming to the 13th hole. Famously, the Par 5 following the most iconic Par 3 in golf has been labeled too short. Many players have short to mid irons into the green. Now, that’s changing.
One of the worlds most iconic holes that has hardly changes since Augusta National opened in 1932, yes the 13th gets a new tee.

On top of the extension to 15 and 13, they are taking away the majority of the trees down the right hand side of 11. There is no word to what they are doing exactly, but here’s an image…
Why yes, of course we do! 😎 “Any shots a little further down 11 fairway to see if they removed all of the trees on the right side of the fairway?” (📸 ©10JUN2021 David Dobbins/EurekaEarth) #EurekaEarth #NotDrone #DiscoverThePresent pic.twitter.com/oBso2wN3HE

While it’s understood that people are afraid of courses becoming too “gettable” because of the importance placed on gaining distance off of the tee, it’s imparitive to understand that this move won’t just effect those playing in the Masters, but also the regular members that belong to Augusta.
An interesting change, to say the least.
