Tiger Woods had a fine start to the Masters, shooting a 1-over after two rounds and making the cut for the 24th straight time at Augusta (a record).

But while he made it through the final two rounds, it was a rough go on the scorecard.

Woods’ 82 and 77 in the final two rounds left him in 60th at +16, which was the lowest finish of golfers making the cut.

Despite that, Woods is taking plenty of positives away from the weekend – including this cool moment with the retiring Verne Lundquist.

“It was a good week. It was a good week all around,” the five-time Masters champ said Sunday afternoon. “I think that coming in here, not having played a full tournament in a very long time, it was a good fight on Thursday and Friday. Unfortunately, yesterday it didn’t quite turn out the way I wanted it to.”

Woods completed a 72-hole tournament for the first time since The Genesis Invitational in February 2023. Now, he said the game plan is to prepare for the next three majors: the PGA Championship at Valhalla, U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2, and the Open Championship at Royal Troon.

Woods’ playing partner on Sunday was Neal Shipley. The 23-year-old wound up winning the Silver Cup for the lowest score by an amateur at this year’s tournament.

He spoke glowingly of playing with Woods on one of golf’s most famous tracks, but there was an awkward moment at his press conference.

So if a note was indeed passed from Woods to the youngster, it’s going to remain a secret!
