NATURALLY: Tiger Needles Justin Thomas At First Tee Introductions
Playing in the same group as Tiger Woods is intimidating to some. For others, they just can’t wait to get off the first tee because of all the attention he garners. Justin Thomas just learned how long the first tee can be with Tiger.
This past weekend at the Hero World Challenge, many of the world’s best competed for the tournament title and to get some practice in before the Presidents Cup. Two of the players that got some much needed time on the course are Tiger Woods and Justin Thomas. Both players will be at the Presidents Cup on Thursday but spent a good 54 holes together this weekend.
Even with such a big event coming up, both players were able to get some laughs in. If you’ve been to a live golf tournament or even watched on TV, you know that every player gets a first tee introduction which lists their accomplishments and personal info. Someone as traveled as Tiger Woods earned many accolades to announce versus Justin Thomas’ introduction, seeming a bit short and anticlimactic.
Sounds like @TigerWoods made sure @JustinThomas34 got a proper introduction in the final round. 😂 pic.twitter.com/E3y7AQ7MZk

Tiger didn’t want to upstage the current no. 4 golfer in the world, so he did him a favor for the final round on Sunday. After Woods had his introduction, Thomas got his, but it was a bit different. The PA announcer spoke of all of Thomas’ accomplishments, even dating back to high school, to make it just as long of an intro as Tiger’s.
This isn’t the first time that someone has felt like Tiger’s intro was too much. Even back in 2002, Phil Mickelson, who was playing with Tiger, interrupted the announcer saying “Alright, alright, we know.” There’s even more to talk about with Woods now, so Thomas got an extra helping of Tiger’s history. But it’s good that the two got to share that laugh because they will likely be partners at the Presidents Cup.
If Thomas and Woods are partnered for the Presidents Cup on Thursday, Thomas will simply have to deal with yet another round of listening to all of Tiger’s accomplishments. Even so, I’m sure it won’t be a problem for JT as long as the two walk away with some wins at the end of the weekend.
