Paige Spiranac is vying for Paul Azinger’s post at NBC after the commentator and the network parted ways at the end of the contract they agreed upon several years ago.

Azinger and NBC parted ways last week after Zinger spent the last four years as the network’s lead analyst. Previously, Azinger was with ABC, ESPN, and FOX Sports.

I was lucky enough to chat with Zinger at the 2021 BMW Championship at Caves Valley in Owings Mills, Maryland, on the range on Sunday. He told me stories about driving to the course and seeing a tombstone at a local cemetery that said “Hoffman.”

“I knew right then that putting money on Charley would be a bad move this week,” he said to me as Hoffman hit balls on the range. “This guy hits them so dead straight, it’s crazy.”

We chatted about other golf-related things, but it was one of the coolest conversations I’ve ever had with someone who is “famous,” and I was sad to see him go from NBC, and I know that’s a polarizing topic.

But now, the short-list for potential replacements is likely being crafted. You can add Paige Spiranac to the list, as she has now put up two Tweets stating she’d like to be considered.

Spiranac took to the scene of golf as social media truly began to become huge with golf, especially as the pandemic raged on and the sport gained a huge following.

Who would you like to see replace Paul Azinger in the booth?

When he isn't golfing, he is probably thinking about golfing, but he might be watching other sports, writing, or playing poker.
