Patrick Cantlay is continuing the new year spree in apparel deals, as the world #5 has inked an agreement with Apollo Global Management, and we will see the logo on his hat next week at the American Express.

First reported by Josh Carpenter of the Sports Business Journal, Apollo’s Co-President Jim Zelter was quoted:

“His relentless pursuit of excellence commitment to his craft and rigorous approach to the game aligns with our approach to investing.”

Cantlay echoed the words – as the company’s first brand ambassador – stating that the firm shared his focus on “constant improvement and passion for learning.”

Cantlay made headlines at the end of 2023 at the Marco Simone Golf Club in Rome when his caddie, Joe LaCava, lost his cool on the 18th green at the Ryder Cup. LaCava began frantically waving his cap to the crowd, referring to the abuse his golfer took for choosing not to don a cap for the biennial event.

The ensuing backlash, combined with the rest of Team USA waving their caps when Cantlay secured a 1/2 point with the long birdie effort on 18, became one of the more interesting talking points of the 2023 event, such was the dominance of Team Europe.

Cantlay continues to partner with his friends and acquaintances in the private equity and investment banking sectors, and joins the growing list of golfers that are exploring their apparel options in 2024 and beyond.
