PGA TOUR Players Think This is a Major Sign of Disrespect
PGA TOUR players often times play against each other for leisure at their home courses, which brings a distinct competitive advantage to those who are playing at familiar courses.
However, although one player might be more familiar with the course than their adversary, they do not expect to be given shots as a competitive handicap, something that Justin Thomas dove into at a recent press conference.
Of course, we might need a stroke or two on each side when we play against a friend of a similar skill level at a course that we are not familiar with, and they are. PGA TOUR pros do not expect the same treatment.
Thomas said earlier this week:
“I’d be pretty pissed if Scottie and I played a practice round, and he’s like, ‘Do you want a stroke on this nine?'”

Thomas went on to say it would be a great way to initiate mental warfare.
Although Scottie Scheffler is the number one player in the world, let’s not act like JT is some kind of slouch. In all honesty, despite the discrepancy in handicaps between pros (which is likely minimal), nothing would lead us common man to believe two pros would need to exchange strokes based on course familiarity.
