PGA TOUR Rookie Might Have Already Landed Highest Score on One Hole for 2025 Season

We are just a few weeks into the New Year, and one PGA TOUR golfer might have already landed the highest score on one hole for the entire season.

William Mouw, a Korn Ferry Tour graduate, is playing the American Express this weekend and made a 13 on the Par 5 16th Hole at PGA West on Friday.

A 13 does not even rank among the top 5 highest scores in PGA TOUR history for a single hole, but there’s a good chance it will be in that ranking by the time 2025 wraps up.

Mouw fell victim to the 16th hole’s massive bunker just off the green that sits 18 feet deep. It was the beginning of the end for him. His third shot would go over the green and into the bunker, and he wouldn’t leave that bunker until his 7th shot.

However, he would end up back in the bunker for his 8th. Ultimately, he ended up with a 13.

The highest single-hole score in PGA TOUR history happened in 1930, as Tommy Armor made a 23 at Interlachen. Hans Merrell, Dale Douglass, and Ray Ainsley have all made 19s on a hole, tying for the second-worst score on a single hole. John Daly is third with an 18.

Daly has three scores of 13 or higher on one hole, the most in PGA TOUR history.
