PGA TOUR’s Bad Timing with Horn Makes Player Miss the Cut

The PGA TOUR’s bad timing with a horn to signal a stoppage in play due to wind at the Farmers Insurance Open caused a player to miss the cut yesterday.

Adam Svensson was on the Par-5 9th at Torrey Pines North Course and had a putt for birdie that would have put him inside the cut line and had him playing the final two rounds of the tournament.

However, the horrific winds in Southern California caused the PGA TOUR to stop play for the second round, and their signal horn blew at the worst possible time — just as Svensson was in the process of completing his putting stroke:

The conditions caused a stoppage that lasted nearly an hour and thirty minutes on Thursday evening. Svensson was one of many to miss the cut and head home on Thursday.

It is not the first time we’ve seen a horn be blown at the absolute worst time on the golf course. Just two years ago, we saw Keith Mitchell fall victim to the bad timing of a horn at The PLAYERS.
