In his first Champions TOUR start, Phil Mickelson wins the Charles Schwab Series at Ozarks National.

Lefty missed the second round of the FedEx Cup playoffs, due to his position outside the Top 70 in the standings. He was disappointed, as he felt he was peaking at the right time, and felt very confident about his game. I guess he was right. He won the tournament in dominant fashion, beating the next closest guy by 4 strokes. He led after the first round thanks to a -10, 61, and never looked back.

In about a month, Phil will travel to Winged Foot for the US Open, the only major he has never won. Is his game peaking at exactly the right time to make a run for the Career Grand-Slam?

Notable Rookie Accomplishments:

Aaron Judge: HR in first at-bat.

Fuzzy Zoeller: Won Masters in his first appearance.

Wilt Chamberlain: Won MVP his rookie season.

I grew up in southern New Hampshire, where I first fell in love with the game of golf. I started by just going out and messing around with my buddies and focusing purely on having a good time! I never took golf seriously until I moved down to Tampa, FL to attend the University of South Florida. Go Bulls! At the start of my junior year I got a job working as a cart boy at a local private country club. This is when I started to focus on golf becoming my career. During the fall of my senior year, I turned from a 14 handicap, to a 2. I passed the PAT scoring test my first try and haven't looked back.
