Ok this is pretty cool.  Footage of a 6-year old Tiger Woods competing just surfaced.

On December 30, 1981, the cameras were rolling, capturing an exhibition match featuring Tiger and Earl Woods vs Rudy Duran and a 12 year old Michele Lyford.

This amateur home video shows a 6 year old Tiger Woods at Redlands Country Club on his 6th birthday.

Young Tiger is seen purring his 7-iron with 100 yards carry distance, with his (now) signature finish. In the previously unreleased video, one can’t help but compare Tiger’s 6 year old swing with his 46 year old swing.

After analyzing the similarities between 6 year old Tiger’s swing and his current, it’s impossible to omit the image of Charlie Woods at the PNC Championship, swinging just like his father and emulating the same mannerisms that he undoubtedly picked up on from his dad.

It was truly wholesome to see the footage of Tiger teaming up with his father just like we saw in the new video.

On that December day in 1981, Tiger shot a 51, losing to Michele Lyford, now Lyford-Stein. As he prepares for the Masters, the world beyond golf realizes how much better the game is with Tiger in it. Beyond a needle-mover, Tiger still gets the world on the edge of their seats to watch him compete.

We’re all lucky to have the chance to see Tiger compete in his 24th Masters. The experience would still be as wonderful as ever, but it’s just something special with Tiger competing.

For those wondering, Tiger did have cake at the Country Club restaurant afterward.
