Talor Gooch is playing in his first Masters this year and although the Masters isn’t just any old tournament, Gooch assumed that one rule stayed the same between the Masters and normal PGA TOUR events.

That rule is that pants must be worn at all times by players at Augusta National, even during practice sessions and rounds. Pants are only required during tournament rounds during normal TOUR events.

Gooch was putting on the practice putting green on Saturday afternoon wearing shorts, when Augusta National Co-Head Professional noticed him and went over to break the news to Gooch. A few minutes later Gooch was sent over a pair of black rain pants that he put on over his shorts and continued his practice.

Imagine that. You play well enough to earn a spot in the Masters and then you break one of Augusta National’s golden rules your first day there. It’s definitely not a good look but I guarantee that Gooch won’t ever make that mistake again!
