PXG Sugar Daddy III Wedges: New Grooves and Grinds, Same Premium Performance

The primary purpose of wedges is to bail you out of trouble. Think about it—whether you missed a green short or long and found yourself in, if you’re lucky, the fairway or, instead, the rough or a bunker, wedges need to do a lot of things to help make you’re not unintentionally throwing away shots.

To help save your scorecard, PXG has released Sugar Daddy III Wedges that feature three new grinds and redesigned grooves that will perform in the whole range of lies and conditions.

Made from a high-strength 8620 soft carbon steel, PXG Sugar Daddy III Wedges are triple forged. This process creates a tight grain structure that increases the material strength, extends the life of the grooves, and delivers an exceptional feel and appearance. Further refined through the precision milling process, every geometry is produced to exacting specifications for consistent performance today – and when golfers are ready to refresh their set.

One of the signature improvements found in the Sugar Daddy III Wedges is a newly designed, unique wide groove pattern that gives golfers more control and consistency specific to trajectory and spin. The redesigned wide groove logic delivers a groove edge that can engage with the cover of a ball .002″ deeper and supports approximately 25% more volume in the cross-sectional areas than competitor narrow groove patterns. The deeper penetration not only helps improve friction in dry conditions and produce more spin, but also helps displace water and debris to improve traction and maintain more spin in wet conditions. In wet testing from 35 yards, the Sugar Daddy III Wedges retained over 1,000 RPMs of spin over the closest competitor, and generated comparable spin performance from dry and grass lies.

Consistent with other PXG models, the Sugar Daddy III Wedges also feature Precision Weighting Technology. Located near the center of gravity on the back of the clubhead, each Sugar Daddy III Wedge can be adjusted in 2-gram increments during a fitting. This enables golfers to experience various head weight configurations and achieve optimal personalized performance.

To help ensure the loft doesn’t turn your ball flight into a rainbow, PXG drills out approximately 8 grams from the backside of the clubhead near the sole (visible from the variable depth weight ports that neighbor each side of the Precision Weight Port) and incorporated Progressive CG (Center of Gravity) Logic, which lowers or raises the center of gravity depending on the loft of the specific Sugar Daddy III Wedge to help ensure a penetrating, consistent spinning ball flight.

Finally, PXG Sugar Daddy III Wedges present golfers with three versatile sole designs to help complement swing types and playing conditions.

The BP-Grind (12) has a high toe design with full face grooves, ideal for lush turf and soft sand conditions or for golfers with a steeper attack angle. Equipped with the widest sole in the Sugar Daddy III collection, the BP-Grind features a 12-degree bounce angle and a slight taper from heel to toe that provides additional bounce and maximum forgiveness.

Designed for versatility across all playing conditions, the new S-Grind features a classic head shape and grooves with a traditional sole with a 10-degree bounce angle that tapers in width from heel to toe. This design creates moderate bounce for versatility in square or open playing positions.

The C-Grind features a classic head shape and grooves. Equipped with the narrowest sole, the C-Grind is equipped with a 7-degree bounce angle and an aggressive taper from heel to toe, delivering lower bounce and greater versatility. These design features make the C-Grind the ideal wedge for skilled golfers who want to hit creative shots around the green.
