Let me start by saying…this mat is money. Don’t trust me?

Well the face of Perfect Practice is Dustin Johnson…you may have heard of him.

I’ve been in the market for a new putting mat for a few months now, so when I got the chance to get my hands on the Perfect Practice mat, I was excited.

Right out of the box this thing looks great, and construction was incredibly easy. The main piece was the ramp and holes, along with that came the mat (which was rolled up), and the rail which came in multiple pieces.

At first I was concerned with the rail, and how it would stay in place while I was putting. But then I realized that each piece features magnets on the ends, stabilizing the ramp so it would never come apart.

The smooth surface features marks on the left side indicating a variety of different length putts. For a right handed golfer, the left side of the mat has a single line running the entirety of the mat right up into the hole. This gives incredible feedback on not only the shape of your stroke, but also if you started the putt on your intended line.

On the other side of the mat is a dotted line sandwiched between two lines again running the length of the mat into the hole – but this time, the hole is smaller.

Having 2 different sized holes is my favorite feature, as the smaller hole forces you to really dial in your stroke.

Perfect Practice Experience

By far, this is the best practice mat I’ve ever owned. The surface is incredibly smooth, and runs at the perfect speed.

Due to the ramp and return system, you can hit putts from the same stance without having to leave and retrieve your balls. This feature is incredibly important for ensuring the same set-up with each and every putt.

As a golf professional, set-up is something that is overlooked by most amateurs, which makes this mat must-have asset.

The Perfect Practice mat has become a great source of fun during these crazy times. Competing against your family, having each golfer take 5 putts from each length, and whoever makes the most wins, has become a nightly routine.

How to Get Your Own

The Standard Edition of the Perfect Practice is 9ft 6in, which I’ve found is more than enough. On their site, the SE is normally priced at $189.99, but is currently on sale for $169.99. You can also get the XL version, which is over 15 feet long, for $199.99 (currently on sale from $229.99), and the Compact version, which is 8 feet, for $139.99 (currently on sale from $159.99).

You may be able to find a cheaper option on Amazon, but the performance and quality will not be close to the Perfect Practice.

If you’re interested in getting your own Standard Edition, find it here. To see the entire catalog of training equipment Perfect Practice has to offer, find it here. And finally, follow Perfect Practice on Instagram: @perfectpracticegolf.

Review of the Perfect Practice ‘Rain Drop’ putting training aid, coming soon…

I grew up in southern New Hampshire, where I first fell in love with the game of golf. I started by just going out and messing around with my buddies and focusing purely on having a good time! I never took golf seriously until I moved down to Tampa, FL to attend the University of South Florida. Go Bulls! At the start of my junior year I got a job working as a cart boy at a local private country club. This is when I started to focus on golf becoming my career. During the fall of my senior year, I turned from a 14 handicap, to a 2. I passed the PAT scoring test my first try and haven't looked back.
