Rickie Fowler Needs a Miracle to Get Into The Masters
There are countless ways to get into the Masters: Top 50 in the World, Top 50 in the World on January 1, Win a PGA TOUR event, or make it to East Lake…just to name a few.
Unfortunately, Rickie Fowler has done none of these things.
According to the Official Golf World Rankings, Rickie currently sits in the 90th spot, and since the 2020 PGA Championship he has only one Top 20 finish to his name. In nine starts since the 2020 Masters, Fowler has four missed cuts and has three finishes outside the Top 50.
To put it lightly, Rickie is struggling.
You may remember that Cobra released the RF Proto Rev33 irons at the end of January, an iron set perfectly constructed for, and partly designed by, Rickie Fowler.

Only two short months later, the new clubs have already come out of the bag – at THE PLAYERS, Fowler played King Forged CB’s, 5-PW.
Other equipment changes included using a AMP Cell Pro CB 4-iron, and a Cobra King F9 4-iron more as a utility iron. These clubs, which have a bit more offset than the Rev33s, help him with start line and forgiveness.
At the top of the bag, Rickie put a Cobra Radspeed XB Palm Tree Crew edition driver into play at the Honda. This driver is more on the stable side, another move to increase forgiveness.

Now Fowler is headed to Texas next week for the Valero Texas Open, an event where he previously only has one start (T17).
This will be Rickie’s last ditch effort to earn his spot into the field for Augusta. Fortunately for Rick, if the week doesn’t go as planned, many have received a last minute invite. But I can imagine Fowler wants to earn his way in.
If you want some context about some swing changes Rickie seems to be going through that are causing this slump, take a look at this analysis by Travis Fulton:
Been getting a lot of questions on Rickie Fowler’s swing changes/struggles so I thought I’d share some thoughts on where I think things are at with now the 90th ranked player in the world. pic.twitter.com/wh3tAnKmCi

Rickie hasn’t missed a major since the 2010 Open, and it would be disappointing to see a Masters field without him. But that can all change if he somehow raises a trophy in Texas.
