Rickie Fowler Needs a Win to Play in The Masters? // More From Around the World of Golf

Only one more week until we get our second Masters week in 5 months. That feels weird to say, but I don’t think it’s something that will be happening again any time soon so just enjoy it while you can. But before we start talking about The Masters, we have to acknowledge that there are a ton of guys in the field this week at the Valero Texas Open who can punch their last second ticket to Augusta with a win. One of them is a little more notable than the others…

Rickie Fowler: Win and in

Rickie has dropped all the way to 94th in the official world golf rankings, and the only way he can sneak into the 2021 Masters Tournament is if he is in the winner’s circle this week at TPC San Antonio. This is the lowest point of his career, and you can attribute a lot of his struggles to his putter.

He has only gained strokes putting in TWO of the events he’s played the ENTIRE season. And it’s no coincidence that those are two of his three best finishes (T28 at The CJ Cup, T20 at Riviera). Let’s hope Rickie can catch fire with the putter or else the only time we’ll see him next week will be during commercial breaks.

Joel Dahmen is an Absolute Legend

Although his win this week in Punta Cana didn’t punch his ticket to Augusta, it was still awesome to see Dahmen break through for his first PGA TOUR victory. Both his caddy and wife were there to celebrate on the green with him, and it’s safe to say they’ve been celebrating pretty hard since.

Ryder Cup Watch After The WGC Match Play

People have been calling for there to be a match play major, and I could not disagree more. This week started off fun with loads of matches on thursday and friday, but by the time the championship came around, it just wasn’t fun to watch. There are some things you can take away from this weekend though.

Kevin Kisner, Scottie Scheffler, and Matt Kuchar all proved they deserve a good hard look when thinking about captain’s picks. Kisner and Kuchar have the history, but Scheffler is the new guy on the block. I think Scheffler would be a great addition to the U.S. team, and he proved that this week, going all the way to finals.
