Rickie Fowler Parts With Caddie Joe Skovron After 13 Years
It is no secret that Fowler hasn’t been in top form this year, which could have led to this situation. Fowler and Skovron started together in 2009, capturing nine professional wins, 5 of which were on the PGA Tour, including a Players Championship in 2015. Like the recent split between Zalatoris and his caddie, Fowler has a close-knit relationship with Joe Skovron.
Words from Rickie
“I’ve known Joe since I was 2 or 3,” Fowler said. “It was a team decision,” Fowler said. “Decided to go different ways. It could be the best option currently. By no means does this mean it’s the end of the road. He’s like a big brother to me.”

Slipping into FedEx Cup Playoffs
Not only that, Fowler barely made the FedEx Cup Playoffs by being exactly on the bubble. Like Bryson Dechambeau did last year with emergency caddie Ben Schomin, Fowler will have him fill in on short notice as well. Ben Schomin has also been the Pro Tour Services Manager for Cobra since 2010.
The tour players on staff know Ben well and could possibly lead to a job on the bag eventually if he so desires the continuing experience he is getting.
New Beginnings
It’s possible that the change of scenery could help Fowler find a resurgence in his career, as he and his large fan base would love to see. Maybe Schomin and Fowler find great chemistry together in the FedEx Cup Playoffs, which could possibly lead to his permanent looper (caddie).
Stay tuned for the first round of the playoffs at the FedEx St. Jude Championship starting Thursday.
