Scottie Scheffler, Ryan Palmer Both Comment on LIV Lawsuit: “You Chose the Circus, Stay in the Circus”
With PGA Tour pros and LIV Golfers alike awaiting word on whether Talor Gooch, Hudson Swafford, and Matt Jones will be allowed to compete in the FedEx Cup playoffs’ opening tournament this week in Memphis, players already in the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind are weighing in.
Among those is 2022 Masters champ and the world’s top-ranked golfer Scottie Scheffler. Scheffler said Tuesday that he feels the PGA Tour is the best place to play, and he’s surprised that the golfers who defected to LIV are now trying to get back in—even though they were aware of the consequences before they made the move in June.
“I’m definitely curious to see what’s going to happen,” Scheffler said. “It’s one of those deals where those guys kind of made their decision to go join another tour and they broke the rules and regulations of our tour and now they’re trying to sue us, which is definitely a bit frustrating. I heard that was going to happen and I know some guys aren’t surprised to see it, but I definitely am surprised to see some guys now suing us.”
Ryan Palmer was a bit more forward with his criticism.

The four-time winner on the PGA Tour told Sirius XM that he, like others who have commented in recent weeks, are tired of the LIV golfers wanting their cake and eating it too.
“They chose that route, all you heard was ‘play less, be home more.’ Well, now you want to play and come out and play the big events next year and then play over there. I just don’t get it,” Palmer said. “You know what, you chose the circus; stay in the circus.”
A judge is expected to rule on whether the trio from LIV can play in Memphis late Tuesday or early Wednesday.
