Rory McIlroy Calls Phil Mickelson “Naive, Selfish, Egotistical, Ignorant”

With every Tour player in the field last week at the Genesis getting asking about the rumors around the Saudi Golf League Rory McIlroy was no exception but when asked about Phil Mickelson’s comments, Rory didn’t hold back.

Wow, those are some powerful words there by Rory saying that Phil’s comments were “naive, selfish, egotistical, ignorant.” There aren’t many players on Tour that could say that about Phil and out of all of them, the one to do it being Rory does not surprise me.

I can’t imagine Phil liked hearing these comments and I’m sure it ticked him off pretty good. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Phil gives Rory a call and they have a long chat about everything at hand.

Ultimately at the end of the day though, everyone is entitled to their own opinion even if it includes some harsh words.
