Rory’s Apology Saves Him $20,000
Saying you’re sorry can save you a lot of humiliation, and in some cases quite a bit of money as well.
Rory McIlroy grabbed the headlines in March for tossing his 3-iron into a lake during the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral, and although it gave fans something to laugh about, Rory was slapped with a $25,000 fine from the PGA TOUR for his on-camera outburst.

The PGA TOUR does not disclose how much players are fined for incidents like this one but McIlroy said that the fine was reduced to $5,000 USD simply because he said he was sorry in a TV interview after the round.
Funny enough the club was recovered by a scuba diver and then later returned to Rory on the range before his next round by Donald Trump himself. The look on Rory’s face when Donald hands him the club says it all.

Looks like your mother was right when she told you to always say you’re sorry!
