The 2023 Ryder Cup is days away from getting underway, and the players have all arrived at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club for some last minute tune-ups and practice rounds before things start to matter.

But what may be the most interesting narrative—at least at this point in time—is the last minute equipment changes being made by some of the players.

And kicking things off is the drama-surrounded LIV player on Team USA—Brooks Koepka.

As many are aware, Brooks signed an equipment deal with Srixon / Cleveland back in fall 2021 that included the driver, irons, wedges and golf ball. And while Brooks has been using a Srixon Srixon ZX5 LS Mk II recently, including during his 2023 PGA Championship victory, he was spotted playing a TaylorMade SIM2 driver during the LIV Chicago event and it appears that it’s made it across the pond for the Ryder Cup.

It’s safe to say that Srixon may not be thrilled at this unexpected equipment change, but some incredible iron and wedge shots from Brooks—along with a Team USA win—would likely help them look past this.

But Brooks isn’t the only one playing an outdated, TaylorMade driver.

In fact, Team TaylorMade member Collin Morikawa has also been spotted playing a SIM—a 3-year old driver now. Notably, Morikawa has a strong connection with his SIM, as it was in the bag during his last Ryder Cup and 2021 Open Championship victory.

Collin has, interestingly, also decided to opt for the SIM 3-wood, so there is clearly a certain level of confidence and trust with those clubs.

Finally, there’s Xander Schauffele. And while many, including myself, have been hoping that we’d see a very early teaser of Callaway’s 2024 metalwood lineup, Xander is playing the same setup—Paradym metalwoods, Apex TCB irons, and JAWS wedges. But that’s not what is catching my eye.

These Ryder Cup-themed adidas Tour360s are awesome, and I am hoping my breath that, first, we’ll see a Team Europe iteration soon and, second, these will be coming to market.

Speaking of which, we will make sure to keep our eyes open for any similar, noteworthy equipment changes from Team Europe and keep you updated here!
