Ryder Cup Volunteers Will Also Pay Hundreds to Help at Bethpage Black

Ryder Cup patrons will not be the only ones paying a pretty penny to watch a single day of the competition between the United States and the Europeans.

After we reported earlier this week that the Ryder Cup would cost over $750 per day to watch as it heads to Bethpage Black next year, Golf.com has also obtained documents that show volunteers will be paying hundreds to help out at the event.

The outlet is reporting that the PGA of America is charging $350 for a “volunteer package,” which is believed to be the most expensive its ever been.

The normal patron tickets are already the most expensive in history as they are 581 percent more pricey than the 2019 PGA Championship, which attracted enormous crowds after Tiger Woods triumphed at Augusta for his fifth Green Jacket and fifteenth Major Championship overall.

The Ryder Cup volunteer package will cost $350 and will only include a volunteer uniform, a drawstring bag, a commemorative pin, food (during shifts only), and a tournament credential. After taxes and fees, it is roughly $392, more than twice the volunteer fee at the 2019 PGA Championship.

It comes with no additional goods or services.

One volunteer said the prices are “tone-deaf.” The PGA of American received pushback for the insane prices, but the group believes the Ryder Cup is on par with Game 7 of the NBA Finals or a Super Bowl, and believes the ticket prices are justified.

PGA of America Defends Sky-High Ryder Cup Ticket Prices

This will price many people out of going to the event, and while it is expected to be one of the toughest Ryder Cups in recent memory due to Bethpage Black's prowess and reputation as a difficult track, is it really worth it?
