Scottie Scheffler Lands Another Tiger-esque Accomplishment
Scottie Scheffler has landed yet another Tiger Woods-esque accomplishment by winning the PGA Tour’s Player of the Year for the second-straight year.
The accomplishment marks the first time a player has won the award in back-to-back fashion since Tiger Woods did it in 2007 and 2008.

Scheffler has shared a few accomplishments in his career that have only been achieved by Woods himself.
For example, Scheffler’s adjusted scoring metrics from the 2022-23 PGA Tour season landed him at 68.63, which was seventh-best all-time.
That does not sound like much of an accomplishment, does it? What if we told you only one man bested Scheffler, but his scoring average from six different seasons was better than Scottie, and that’s Tiger:
- 1999 – 68.432
- 2000 – 67.794
- 2002 – 68.561
- 2003 – 68.415
- 2007 – 67.794
- 2009 – 68.052
Scheffler fended off a variety of players that were certainly in the conversation for PGA Tour Player of the Year.
Looking at the comments alone of the PGA Tour’s Instagram post, it appears that many felt Viktor Hovland or Jon Rahm may have also been deserving of the award. Hovland charged at the end of the season during the FedEx Cup Playoffs to win the BMW Championship and Tour Championship, ultimately culminating in his first FedEx Cup.
Rahm was likely not going to win the award after departing the Tour for LIV Golf in late 2023.
