The World’s #1 golfer, Scottie Scheffler, is reverting back to a past putter choice for this weekend’s Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill. Scheffler has struggled with the flatstick for most of his dominant run atop the Official World Golf Ranking.

Scheffler has been seen with several putters over the past three years, including a Scotty Cameron Timeless Tourtype putter with a smooth face last year, an Olson blade prototype early this season, and a TaylorMade Spider Tour, which appears to be his most recent choice.

Jonathan Wall of Golf.com spotted Scheffler on the practice green at Bay Hill this morning with only one putter in his bag: a TaylorMade Spider Tour, which is among the most popular models among professionals on the PGA Tour:

Scheffler has continued his dominant run atop the professional golf scene for nearly three years. However, one crucial part of his game has been lacking over that time, and it’s his putting.

So far this year on the PGA Tour, Scheffler is 1st in Strokes Gained – Approach, 9th in Strokes Gained – Off the Tee, and 19th in Strokes Gained – Around the Green. When it comes to putting, he is 144th in Putting, losing .4 strokes per round in this category, according to the Tour’s website.

Scheffler has not been able to hone his putting over the past few years very often. When he putts the ball well, the field stands relatively no chance against him, and the fact he has found himself in the Top 10 in four of his five PGA Tour starts this year without being a good putter is mesmerizing.

Looking to win his second Arnold Palmer Invitational this weekend, Scheffler will lean on the TaylorMade Spider Tour to help fix his putting woes.
