This Scottie Scheffler and Tiger Woods Stat is Almost Too Good to be True
Scottie Scheffler’s performance on the professional golf scene over the past few seasons has drawn comparisons to the greatest to ever play the game: Tiger Woods.
However, Scheffler, who scoffed at the idea of even being compared to Woods in a press conference after his win at The Open Championship yesterday, certainly has an argument. Of course, he’ll have to keep up this type of dominating play for several years to be in the same sentence as Woods from a statistical standpoint, but he’s well on his way.
With all of the talk about Scheffler and Woods, there is one thing that is almost too good to be true, and the fact that the two have drawn identical in this category alone is not only a testament to Scottie’s exceptional play, but it is also enough to make you think: Are we entering a new era of golf that is dominated by another American?
Tiger’s First Four Majors
Woods won his first Major Championship at Augusta National Golf Club during the 1997 Masters. He won his fourth Major Championship at the 2000 Open Championship at St. Andrews. These two events fell 1,197 days apart. In between the two, he won the 1999 PGA Championship and the 2000 U.S. Open.
The 2000 Open Championship was Woods first of three Career Grand Slams. He still is just one of two players to accomplish that feat, as Jack Nicklaus is the other.
Scottie’s First Four Majors
Scheffler won his first Major Championship at Augusta National Golf Club during the 2022 Masters. He won his fourth Major Championship yesterday at the 2025 Open Championship at Royal Portrush. These two events fell 1,197 days apart.
This is the exact interval that it took Woods to win his fourth Major after winning his first. It seems like the two have a true path aligned by the stars together.
This is an exceptional coincidence.
This is one of the craziest stats EVER.
It took Tiger 1,197 days to win his 4th major after he won his 1st.
Scottie will win his 4th major today… 1,197 days since his 1st.

Scheffler Thinks Woods Comparisons are ‘Silly’
Scheffler turned his nose up at the fact that there are people out there who genuinely believe he is on a Woods-type run through the first few years of his career.
“I think Tiger stands alone in the game of golf,” Scheffler said. It seems his incredible knack for remaining humble will not allow him to take any of these words seriously. However, it is something to mention, especially considering we have not seen this type of dominance in the game since Woods took over in 1997.

Xander Schauffele said it “sucks for us” when Scheffler is on the leaderboard, and Rory McIlroy even said that Scottie is “inevitable,” meaning it is basically guaranteed that he will be in contention by the time the weekend rolls around.
