Scottie Scheffler’s Attorney Spits Fire Toward Louisville PD
Reaction is pouring in from all sides after Scottie Scheffler’s charges were dropped today by prosecutors in Louisville, Kentucky.
Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell said in court:
“Mr. Scheffler’s actions, and the evidence surrounding their exchange during this misunderstanding, do not satisfy the elements of any criminal offenses.”
Following the proceedings, Scheffler released a statement on Instagram, which read in part:
“I hold no ill will toward Officer [Bryan] Gillis. I wish to put this incident behind me and move on, and I hope he will do the same. Police officers have a difficult job, and I hold them in high regard. This was a severe miscommunication in a chaotic situation.”

An official statement from the Louisville Police Department was posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

But perhaps the most striking comments were made in front of television cameras. Steve Romines, who is Scheffler’s attorney, was in court and referred to additional videos that were released on Wednesday, showing Scheffler interacting with another police officer in the cop car.

Romines said:
“The officer was actually asking him leading questions and trying to get him to agree with them, and that’s why you don’t talk to the police.”
Earlier this week, Romines said that he was prepared to file a civil suit against Louisville PD if the case went to trial. But that won’t be happening now since both sides agreed to not pursue any further legal action stemming from the incident.
