It’s almost every golfer’s dream to hit the perfect shot that ends up dropping in for a hole-in-one. Dustin Johnson came close to doing so on a 433-yard par four this week but one kid has that feat beat for the week.

Young Freddy Sage had been taking golf lessons across the pond in England and was finally ready to take on an actual course for the first time. And for a youngster, his first time on the links could not have gone much better.

Sage stepped up to the tee on the sixth hole and blasted his shot that promptly went right into the hole, giving the kid his first hole-in-one on his first nine holes ever.

The hole that Sage made the shot on was the sixth hole of the Knebworth Golf Club in Hertfordshire, England. The hole is only 100 yards but that’s still a healthy margin for a seven-year-old to make the green, let alone hole out. And according to the club pro that was watching the group play, Sage’s shot wasn’t a fluke, he simply struck a perfect golf shot.

7 year Freddy Sage steps on the course for the first time and makes a hole in one.

Despite the great strides that he has made in his golf lessons, the ace still came to the surprise of coach Ian Parker, who was working with a group of 12 youth. “I was in shock, really,” said Parker. “I was helping another kid out and I just looked up and saw it happen. It was a beautiful shot. It climbed in the air and bounced once or twice and then just went straight in. Everyone was doing aeroplanes down the fairway to celebrate – it was fantastic.”

If you’re wondering what the training group that Freddy is a part of is called, it is the Jack Mudd Academy. The team is named after a young, promising golfer in the United Kingdom who passed away in 2015 due to a car crash. The academy also has a free short practice course that youngsters are able to use to train for the real course, something Freddy obviously took full advantage of.

To be honest, if I were in Freddy’s shoes, I probably would have quit while I was ahead with luck like that and go out on top. But I’m sure the young gun will continue playing the game and we hope that his golf performance continues to improve with age.
