SOLID: Bulked-Up DeChambeau Wins Rocket Mortgage Classic
It was only a matter of time for Bryson DeChambeau to take home a win! After 3 straight Top 10 finishes, he takes the win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. His bulk-up has paid-off and he’s making Tour courses look like mini-golf. Aside from the win, DeChambeau continues to be a golfer that is impossible to root for. His complaints toward the cameraman on Saturday were outrageous, and his slow play continues to linger as it took him 2 minutes to hit a putt on Sunday.
Matthew Wolff had a choke hold of this tournament going into Sunday, but that quickly disappeared after going out at +2. He was able to make some birdies coming in, but it wasn’t enough to recover from his slow start. Matt is on the complete opposite spectrum compared to Bryson. He’s easy to root for, a relaxed dude who just loves golf. Wolff represents the direction golf is going and other players on Tour need to keep up.
In my opinion, the most underrated player on Tour went low on Sunday, finishing inside the Top 5. Kevin Kisner put together a -6 round of 66 and didn’t have a bogey on the card. Kis is never shown on TV, despite the fact that he has 3 PGA Tour wins, and it doesn’t make sense. He hits it dead straight, and can roll the rock better than 99% of the guys on Tour. Golf media needs to start respecting Kis during these tournaments, especially when he’s playing himself into contention.
Webb Simpson had another great showing this week, after coming off a WD from the Travelers as a safety precaution due to COVID-19. The man can’t play bad golf right now! All parts of his game are clicking and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him with another win in the near future.
Rickie Fowler was finally able to string together 4 good rounds of golf and finish inside the Top 15. Rickie posted a -5, 67 on Sunday, which included an eagle on the Par 5, 14th. Is Rickie finding form at the right time, considering the Memorial is coming up in a few short weeks?

Next week, the PGA Tour heads to Ohio for the first week of the double-header at Muirfield Village. The Workday Charity Open will be a warm up (for most guys) to the Memorial. Jason Day, Patrick Cantlay, Rickie Fowler, Brooks Koepka, Jon Rahm, and Justin Rose highlight the field.
