Leading up to this year’s Master’s the top story (before Tigers big comeback) was if Phil was going to play or not?

Ever since the fallout with the TOUR and his sponsors, we didn’t know if he would come back this week or not.  It was almost the perfect stage to reemerge. But then Phil was announced that he will not be in attendance at this years festivities.

The chairman Fred Ridley had spoken and the truth is, that this was Phil’s decision. The powers that be at Augusta did not disinvite him.

“He is a three-time Masters champion … Phil reached out to me, I think in late February, early March and let me know he did not intend to play. That was by way of text. I thanked him for his courtesy of letting me know,” said Fred Ridley.

This statement finally puts the debate to rest. The only question now is, when will he return to the PGA TOUR?
