Spieth Makes History with Perfect 5 Points at Quail Hollow
The story of Jordan Spieth ebbs and flows once more. His dispatching of Cam Davis in Sunday singles to cap off a 5-0-0 week at the Presidents Cup in Quail Hollow was remarkable.
After one of the best seasons of all time in 2015, Spieth’s subsequent struggles on the course have been well-documented. Despite an inconsistent few years, his match play record in fourball and foursomes format remains astonishing. He is now hitting it further, shaping shots with ease, and holing out from everywhere.

His highlight reel on Sunday in his first ever Ryder Cup or President’s Cup singles win was littered with long birdie putts, chip-ins, sand saves, and the odd lucky break. He got the monkey off his back by winning on a Sunday. His style of golf has always been Mickelson-esque, and the ‘Golden Child’ as he is affectionately named, is now a veteran name, setting an example to the rest of the team and offering his own child out in front of the crowds before teeing off on Sunday.
Spieth barely missed a beat all week. Trailing for only several holes, a perfect record that matches Jim Furyk’s week in 2011. Michael Greller stood on the bag on Sunday, giving us all that knowing look whenever Spieth would stand over an important putt.

Off the course, Spieth has been relatively unseen throughout the LIV Golf saga, remaining quietly loyal to the PGA Tour. He has done well to take a back seat and largely avoiding the press conferences. On the course, his golf is attractive, and I expect some wins in the 2022-23 season.
His resurgence will turn the heads of bettors who are reminded that he is one week away from completing the career Grand Slam and cementing his place in Golf’s Hall of Fame. His odds for Augusta 2023 will be swiftly dropping…
