SPOTTED: Callaway’s 2022 Rogue ST Max LS Driver
Santa came just on time this year, as yesterday numerous pictures dropped featuring what appears to be the production model of the 2022 Callaway Rogue ST Max LS (Low-Spin) driver.
Let me tell you, it looks damn good:

Although, as of writing this, the Rogue ST has not appeared on the USGA Conforming List, the images look very much like what we’ll be seeing on the shelves and at fitters in the very near future.
And while Callaway hasn’t officially confirmed what improvements were incorporated into the new Rogue ST lineup, the additional pictures (along with the previously discovered pictures of the Max D variant) can allow us to draw some reasonable inferences, including:
- Revised Jailbreak A.I. Speed Frame – It appears that Callaway’s centerpiece, Jailbreak, will see significant revisions in back-to-back years. Whereas the 2021 Epic MAX brought us the Jailbreak Speed Frame that still featured the titanium rods, the 2022 Rogue ST appears to replace the 4 rods with 2 Velocity Blades, which first appeared in the Epic MAX fairway woods. Perhaps the wider design of the blades allows for less fixtures, which means less weight up front, with (presumably) the same, if not better, structural support.
- A.I.-Designed Flash Face SS22 – As has become a similar centerpiece to Callaway’s driver, the Rogue ST will feature the newest iteration of the A.I.-Designed Flash Face. Made from titanium, the inside of the Flash Face features a wave-like design that looks to increase forgiveness and ball speed on off-center strikes.
- Complete Carbon Sole – Numerous prior iterations of Callaway driver’s have featured a polished Triaxial Carbon. The material is lightweight, and allows for weight to be placed in a spot that promotes heightened forgiveness. While the Rogue ST appears to keep the Triaxial Carbon crown, albeit in a matte finish, it also appears that the Rogue ST will feature a full carbon sole for the first time. Yes, the Epix MAX had some carbon in the sole, but the Rogue ST appears to have significantly increased that amount.
- Fixed Rear-Weight – This is starting to be confirmed, alternating design strategy for Callaway. In one year, the driver’s have a rear-placed, adjustable weight, and the next features adjustable, fixed-position weights. Indeed, last year’s Epic MAX LS—the likely predecessor to this Rogue ST MAX LS—featured a rear-positioned weight on a weight track that can be used to dial in fade or draw-biased ball flight, the Rogue ST appears will have a single, oversized rear-weight (cue the Goldmember jokes).

Also verified by the new images is that the Rogue ST will feature a carbon, white, gold colorway. Whether this will be well-received remains to be seen, but it’s nice to see that Callaway isn’t recycling the paint from the generation Rogue (which featured a carbon, electric blue, and black appearance).
While it’s early, it will be very interesting to hear from Callaway the complete list of improvements that were made, and how they will make the Rogue ST a more potent driver. Regardless, it’s exciting to know that the Hawaii Swing starts in just a couple weeks, kicking off with the Sentry Tournament of Champions at Kapalua, where we can likely expect both the Callaway and TaylorMade staffers to be equipped with offerings from the new 2022 lineup.
