SPOTTED: Jason Day Gaming PING, Mizuno and Artisan
2021 has already seen a few big equipment changes on the PGA Tour: Fleetwood to TaylorMade, Rahm to Callaway and Koepka playing Srixon irons. Now you add Jason Day’s name to that list.
Former TaylorMade staffer Jason Day was noticeably absent from the 2021 Christmas Card, which started to spur up rumours, along with Rahm’s exist and Fleetwood’s unofficial debut. And while the other two have officially settled into their new homes after making their 2021 debuts at Abu Dhabi and Kapalua, Jason Day will be making his first 2021 start this weekend at Torrey Pines.

While preparing for the Farmers Insurance Open, Day was spotted playing a little bit of everything, including PING’s new G425 LST driver, the TaylorMade SIM Max 3 Wood, Mizuno JPX 921 Tour irons, Artisan Prototype wedges, Odyssey 2-Ball and a Bridgestone Bridgestone Tour B XS.

While most of those brands are household names, those unfamiliar with Artisan may find comfort in the fact that it’s co-founder Mike Taylor is the man who was charged with making Tiger Woods’ irons and wedges.
Day had been a TaylorMade guy since 2006, so this marks the first time in 15 years that he’ll have a new brand in the bag. Fortunately, the new gear should only help him since he’ll be playing Torrey Pines, a course he’s had a lot of success at in the past, including wins in the 2015 and 2018 Farmers Insurance Open.

Hopefully the new equipment can bring some excitement and success to his game this weekend, as the former World No. 1 has hit a bit of a rough patch over the past 2 years.
