Titleist has officially announced the next generation of its Vokey Design wedges, unveiling the new SM11 lineup.

The wedges make their PGA TOUR debut this week at The American Express and will be available for fittings beginning January 22, with retail availability set for February 20.

SM11 continues Vokey’s long-standing focus on wedge performance, with design updates aimed at improving trajectory control, distance consistency, feel, and spin.

A Focus on Contact, Flight, and Spin

According to Titleist, the SM11 wedges were designed around three core principles that Master Craftsman Bob Vokey has emphasized for years: contact, flight, and spin. Each of those areas received targeted updates in this new generation.

One of the most notable aspects of SM11 is the size of the lineup itself. The wedges are offered in 27 different loft, bounce, and grind combinations across six grinds (F, S, M, D, K, and T), giving golfers more fitting options than ever.

The idea is to help players find a sole configuration that promotes consistent contact—particularly striking the ball between grooves two and five—regardless of swing type or course conditions.

More Consistent CG Positioning

A significant technical change in SM11 involves center of gravity placement. In previous Vokey designs, CG positions could vary slightly between different grinds of the same loft due to differences in sole geometry.

With SM11, Vokey engineers worked to make CG placement identical across all grinds within a given loft. This change is intended to create more consistent ball flight and feel, while also simplifying the fitting process. Golfers can now focus on selecting the correct grind without introducing another performance variable.

CG placement also progresses throughout the set. Lower-lofted wedges feature a lower, more centered CG to blend smoothly with iron sets and reduce excessive draw bias on full shots. Higher-lofted wedges shift the CG higher and slightly toward the heel, helping produce a lower, more controlled flight on open-face shots.

Groove and Face Updates

Spin generation was another key area of focus. SM11 wedges feature three different groove shapes depending on loft. Lower-lofted wedges use narrower, deeper grooves optimized for full swings, while higher-lofted wedges use wider, shallower grooves designed to perform better on partial shots and around the greens. Mid-lofts bridge the gap between the two designs.

Compared to the previous SM10, SM11 grooves offer 5% more volume due to manufacturing improvements and tighter tolerances. Titleist says this helps maintain spin, particularly from rough or wet conditions.

SM11 also introduces a new directional face texture designed to increase friction and prolong ball contact, contributing to more consistent spin control on delicate shots.

Availability and Options

The SM11 lineup includes several changes and additions, including the return of the .06K low-bounce lob wedge and a new 44-degree pitching wedge option for players looking to tighten gapping at the top of the wedge set.

Wedges will be offered in Tour Chrome, Nickel, and a new Jet Black finish, with Raw available through custom order. Pricing starts at $199 for steel shafts, with graphite and Raw options priced higher.
