It’s Tuesday, September 15th. While your calendar might not list anything specific, this is a particularly noteworthy Tuesday since we have officially kicked off the 120th U.S. Open Championship.

Initially scheduled to be held between June 18th and 21st, the COVID-19 pandemic quickly threw everything off the rails and forced a change in nearly everything around the world. Fortunately, however, Winged Foot Golf Club—located in Mamaroneck, New York—will still be the host club, and the tournament has merely been rescheduled to be held between September 17th and 20th. Further interesting, this is now the 2nd of only 3 Majors that will be held in 2020.

So to help make sure addias Golf athletes reigning current-PGA Champion Colin Morikawa, FedEx Champion Dustin Johnson, Joaquin Niemann, Jon Rahm, Sergio Garcia, Tyrrell Hatton and Xander Schauffele look the part while competing with the country’s best, adidas Golf has equipped each of the guys with some quality scripting that features a mix of softer and bold colors, along with corresponding prints and patterns.

Notably, the designs have a unique source of inspiration, as discussed by Sarah Marai (global senior product manager of men’s apparel for adidas Golf): “Our FW20 color palette took a lot of inspiration from the Japanese culture because of the Olympic year, so the drop as part of our 9/1 collection actually took inspiration from a picture of a samurai’s armor that we saw. We really liked the bold purples and blues because they exuded so much emotion and power, which hopefully transition to some added confidence and a strong mindset as players head to the first tee this week in New York.”

Personally, my favorite setup for each day is:

  • Rahm’s Thursday (Ultimate365 Space Dye Stripe Polo in Light Blue/Collegiate Navy/White and Ultimate365 Classic Pant in Grey Three)
  • Niemann’s Friday (Ultimate365 Colorblock Polo – Collegiate Navy/White and Ultimate365 Competition 3-Stripes Tapered Pant in Collegiate Navy)
  • Sergio’s Saturday (Ultimate365 BOS Print Polo in White/Grey Three and Ultimate365 Classic Pant in Grey Three)
  • Morikawa’s Sunday (Ultimate365 Chest Print Polo in Power Berry, and Ultimate365 Competition 3-Stripes Tapered Pant in Collegiate Navy )

It’s worth noting that none of the individual items from the U.S. Open scripting—all of which are part of the Ultimate365 collection—is more than $100, with prices ranging from $65 to $90 (which will be paired with Tour360 XT or CodeChaos shoes). As a result, having a top tier golf outfit in your closet (particularly with fall quickly approaching) doesn’t require you to have a private jet sponsor.

Make sure to check out the U.S. Open on the Golf Channel and NBC throughout the weekend, and make sure to check out adidas Golf for all of your golf apparel needs, ranging from shoes (spiked and spineless) to hats.

Ever since golf became a competitive outlet, nothing brings Eric more joy than a well struck 4 iron. And despite living in NYC, Eric makes it a priority to work on his game and fitness during the week, along with a round or two over the weekend. Fortunately, he’s got a very understanding fiancé who (for the time being) accepts him and his obsession. Follow Eric on IG @hozel_rocket.
