STYLE: adidas Golf Takes Another Step Towards Sustainability with CODECHAOS21
adidas Golf recently announced that it would be committed to releasing future products that were environmentally conscious. Indeed, PRIMEBLUE is adidas’ high-performance recycled material that’s made in part with Parley Ocean Plastic, plastics that were intercepted from beaches, coastal communities and shorelines.
For apparel products to be considered PRIMEBLUE, they must meet a minimum standard of 40% recycled content overall. The products highlighted as part of adidas’ range have a minimum of 95%, with a majority being made with 100% recycled polyester.
“Our goals are ambitious to eliminate all virgin polyester from our line, but this offering shows just how close we are to getting there,” said Shaun Madigan, director of global apparel, adidas Golf. “We pushed ourselves in new ways with design and materials development to bring this apparel to life. We know golfers around the world will appreciate the performance features, but they will also feel good about buying a product that in a small way saves our oceans from plastic waste.”
And at the heart of adidas Golf’s newest collection are the CODECHAOS21 spineless footwear.

Although the original Code Chaos redefined what a spineless golf shoe could be, the CODECHAOS21 has been enhanced to feature a sporty design aesthetic while being made with our PRIMEBLUE recycled yarns that contain more than 50% Parley Ocean Plastic. This textile upper goes beyond just recycled content. It’s also waterproof (1-year warranty) to provide solid protection if golfers ever find themselves facing the elements.
“I’ve been wearing CODECHAOS since last year and couldn’t be more impressed with the traction and comfort level I get while out on the course,” said Tyrrell Hatton. “It’s remarkable how the team at adidas was also able to use recycled materials with this new model. I’ve already won twice in CODECHAOS and can’t wait to put this new style in play.”
“CODECHAOS is the most comfortable shoe I’ve worn out on tour,” said Daniel Berger. “Both of my wins over the last year were in this shoe, so it’s definitely one that I trust. The stability that I get throughout my swing is amazing and I know that golfers everywhere will appreciate these as much as I do.”
Alongside the overlapping microfiber panels on both the lateral and medial side of the shoe that provide additional stability and protection, the CODECHAOS21 features TWISTGRIP technology. Using heat-map studies helped adidas identify the most optimal location for the lugs, providing all players with the best grip possible.

The CODECHAOS21 will be available with laces and the BOA Fit System for both men and women. The BOA application for CODECHAOS21 features an advanced sequence lacing for designated pressure distribution, an overlapping panel for a secure and stable fit and the L6 dial platform featuring a softer TX4 lace. The BOA Fit System also includes FormTX guides for micro-adjustability and customized fit.
