Talor Gooch SHOCKS with Latest Major Championship Revelation

“I’m not.”

That was Talor Gooch’s answer to the question of whether he is trying to qualify for the U.S. Open Championship this Summer, as the third Major of the year is set to take place at the challenging Pinehurst No. 2.

Gooch has fought for qualification at other Major Championships, even casting stones in the direction of those golfers who have won them because LIV Golfers are not invited or cannot compete due to not being qualified for the tournament.

It seems perhaps the last straw has been applied to the camel’s back — and it has unfortunately broken.

Gooch, candid and straight to the point with his answer, seems almost fed up with the talk of Major Championships. Unfortunately for LIV Golfers, they will need to qualify through winning other Majors, and their opportunities are wearing thin.

Players like Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, and Jon Rahm will all qualify for The Masters for the rest of their lives through a Past Champion’s Exemption. Mickelson will also qualify for the U.S. Open — the only Major he’s never won — for the next five years due to his triumph at the PGA Championship at Kiawah Island.

Brooks Koepka is also under the same exemption due to his win at Oak Hill last year. He has also won the U.S. Open twice and has a lifetime exemption.

Other players who have flourished on LIV Golf, like Gooch, have to hope for a few things: OWGR to recognize LIV Golf as a valid tour to earn points, or for the PGA Tour to merge with the PIF so the two tours can co-exist.
