Phil Mickelson Hints His Golf Career May Be Coming to a Close
Phil Mickelson hinted his golf career may be coming to a close, in a recent interview with Bloomberg.
Mickelson has had an illustrious career, turning pro 32 years ago in 1992, winning 57 times as a professional across the PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR Champions, and LIV Golf. Six of those wins Major Championships: three at The Masters, two at the PGA Championship, and one Open Championship title.
However, all good things come to an end, and Mickelson realizes that. In a new interview, he opened up about his future plans, and he realizes that his golf career will not last forever.
Mickelson said:
“I’m 53 now, and you know, if I’m being truthful, it’s towards its end.”

The last few years of Mickelson’s career have been arguably filled with controversy. After his defection to LIV Golf, Phil was outspoken regarding his discontent with the PGA TOUR and how it had been handled through the last few years of his play on it.
Mickelson was quick to call out the unjust nature of the payouts, and how players were being treated unfairly by TOUR executives. For the most part, what he said was correct.
Now, he is playing with LIV Golf and has still managed to remain somewhat competitive despite his age. He has routinely shown up in Major Championships and even capped off a strong showing at Augusta in 2023 with a second-place finish after a magnificent Sunday 65.
Whatever your thoughts on Phil, he has revolutionized the game with his creative and brash playing style, which has led to 32 years of success at the professional level.
