The 2021 Open Championship is Still on the Schedule…for Now Anyway
According to ESPN, The Open Championship organizers indicated they had, “cautious optimism” that the Major tournament would take place at Royal St. George’s in July as planned.
While that statement is far from a firm commitment, it is a bit of a relief especially given that the UK is still largely in a state of lockdown.

So the next obvious question is, if The Open goes on as scheduled, will fans be allowed to attend?
Here’s what R&A chief executive Martin Slumbers said:
“We continue to plan for a full-scale Championship, “but also have robust plans in place for a reduced capacity or behind closed doors model.”
So now all we can do is wait and keep our fingers crossed that the UK’s lockdown and vaccination rollout will help ease the spread of COVID-19 and make way for the return of the season’s final Major.
